Hello Dionysus, We Meet Again

This weekend is the Georgia Thespian Conference. Hundreds of theatre crazed teenagers join in a raucous celebration of the stage through workshops, plays, I.Es (monologues and scenes) and a dance. My memories of this event are some of my favorites from high school. One in particular included Emily Stockton and Amanda Carman, two of my best friends from high school. The two of them created this yop, this  battle cry of thes con if you will : “Three Straight Days of Dionysus!”. Dionysus being the greek god of theater and all. Anyway i hope all the theatre kids get their fix of broadway sing-a-longs and jiggalo (it’s a group game, get your head out of the gutter) and have great day at CSU!

Daytona is a town of weird.

While driving around Daytona west of the shinny, hotel studded coast I have come to the conclusion that it is a place where people come to die. The palm trees arch and twist over the pastel houses like grim reapers, ever present and counting down the days. The sidewalks are all cracked asunder. A crying woman walks down a sidewalk cradled in the arms of an angry man. A man jumps on the hood of a car leaving a parking space. Everywhere is a crumbling nothing wheezing loudly on the train to Hades. If anyone online who reads this is from Daytona then I am very sorry this was just my impression.

This a new movie coming out about a tire with destructive telepathic powers who start wreaking havoc on a desert town. I can’t wait.

Tim Burton's "Superman Lives" costume concept 1998

The script went through rewrite after rewrite into the ground where it stayed. Nicholas Cage was actually signed on to play Superman but due to a cluster cuss of production and writing issues he pulled out. Oh what could have been. I have high hopes for the Superman reboot though  ”The Man of Steel” directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), Produced by Christopher Nolan(Memento, Dark Knight, Inception), and written by David S. Goyer (Dark City, Blade trilogy, Batman Begins & Dark Knight co-writer)
